The Rename Worth Knowing
If you’ve seen Google AI Pro priced around $30/month somewhere, that’s leftover information from before Google’s May 19, 2026 restructuring at I/O 2026. “Gemini Advanced” became “Google AI Pro” in that update, and the price settled at $19.99 — the same as ChatGPT Plus. A fair number of older guides never got updated, so the outdated figure still circulates.
For Content Creators
Gemini’s creator toolkit centers on Veo for video generation, Imagen for images, and Gems for anything done the same way twice. Veo 3.1 generates clips from a text prompt, and the Flow editing app (bundled into Ultra) turns those into an edited sequence without separate software. Google AI Pro’s 1M-token context window fits an entire batch of source material — transcripts, competitor scripts, reference articles — into one conversation instead of splitting it across several.
Gems save the most time on repeat work: build one with your house style and reference material loaded in, and every new draft starts from your voice instead of a blank page. The limit worth knowing — a 10-file cap per Gem — makes it better suited to a style guide than a full research library.
For Students
Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook in July 2026; the function is unchanged. And most of what makes Gemini genuinely faster assumes you’re already inside the Google ecosystem — Workspace, Ads, or Classroom — it’s a weaker pick if you’re not.
Our Team’s Take
We fall into the content-creator bucket ourselves, and the 1M-token context window has changed how we approach research-heavy scripts — dropping an entire source batch into one thread beats the old copy-paste-and-hope-it-remembers routine. We tested a Gem as a style-checker and hit the file cap fast, so it’s better as a light style reference than a full knowledge base for us.
